TPP had something funny happen today…
While amongst children playing with some cats and dogs, one of the children looked up at a parent and had a conversation that went like this:
Child: “When we go on holiday where does your cat go – will our cat come with us?”
Parent: “Well no, the cat does not come with us because cats don’t like going on holiday. But when we go away our cat goes to a cattery.”
Child: “So a cattery is a holiday home for our cat?”
Parent: “I suppose you could say that.”
To which another child excitedly joined in the conversation with “We are going on holiday next week and our dog Max is not coming with us. He will be going to the doggery for his holiday!”
Out of the mouths of babes!
TPP had a good chuckle at both, the timing and content of the conversation, given that the last ponderings was about why something sent by car was called cargo, but something send by ship is called cargo. Essentially the odd or illogical use of words.
Your homework today is to ponder on oddity of why the cat holiday home is called a cattery but the dog holiday home is called a kennel and not a doggery.
