Today’s topic is about a random word that many of you have probably never heard of before – aglet.
So what is an aglet? Well, if you look at the end of a shoelace you will see either a piece of plastic or metal. This is is known as an aglet. These are also quite common on cords and drawstrings.
What purpose does the aglet serve:
- They stop the lace or cord from coming apart at the end
- They make it easier to thread the laces on shoes
- They are suppose to make it a little easier to hold the ends of the shoelaces
- Sometimes they are also used to add colour or character to the lace
Here is a link to an article on Wonderopolis which gives some great background information on aglets – way better than TPP could ever do.
Your homework today is to ponder on what an aglet is and how this little item has made life easier for so many people.
Ponder away!
