Rush Hour Traffic

Rush Hour Traffic

The last pondering topic, “Hurry Up & Wait” was about the ponderings when waiting for someone having a medical procedure, with the assorted rabbit holes that arose from those ponderings – the good, the bad and the totally unnecessary. Today we cover a lighter pondering topic but still one around having to wait… going nowhere fast in rush hour traffic!

Anyone who lives in a city will likely have experienced the frustration of rush hour traffic – be it in a car, public transport or on a bike weaving through all of the vehicles. Rush hour traffic can even be a pain when trying to walk somewhere – being “that” time of day there will probably be lots of other people walking with you, which makes it slow going, or if you need to cross the road you have to wait for lights to stop the vehicles before you can cross rather than just whipping across the road.

Country folk may not have experienced this full on city rush hour traffic but they will have their own version of it – maybe 10 cars on the road where there is normally only one or two which slows everything down at the intersection, or maybe there is a family of ducks crossing the road forcing you to stop while they all get safely to the other side.

Be it big city, small town or country, everyone will be a version of being stuck in rush hour traffic!

So how do you handle being stuck in rush hour traffic? Do you get frustrated getting nowhere fast, worry about how late you are going to be, watch the minutes slip away on the car clock, put on some motivational music/podcast, phone friends to pass the time, watch videos while on public transport, review your day mentally, let your mind wander on random topics, or just switch off until you get to your destination.

Your homework today is to ponder on what you do when stuck in rush hour traffic – do you always do the same thing or can it be different depending on your day, is what you do positive – if not what can you do to make it a positive?

Pnder away!
