Today had TPP sitting waiting for news of a loved one going through a medical procedure. It was one of those hurry up & wait times.
While waiting TPP’s mind wandered through many different pondering topics and went down a number of rabbit holes – some good, some bad and some totally unnecessary. The good being many fond memories of the laughs, the tears, the disagreements and time spent together. The bad, well, they were all the negative “what if’s” as a result of the procedure. The unnecessary were dumb things like “I wonder if the doc doing the procedure knows what he is doing?”.
At one point while waiting, the bad possibilities started to take over and all the good ponderings vanished. After a wee bit of time in the bad mindset, TPP decided these ponderings were not doing anyone any good – there was nothing that could be done to change the outcome while waiting, it was out of TPP’s hands. With this came the revelation that the only real course of action was to “Let them go and let God”.
After this decision a huge weight was lifted – no matter the outcome the TPP was not facing this alone, God was there to help.
Yes family was there, so TPP was not actually waiting alone. That said, each person was going through their own iterations of ponderings – good and bad. We were able to lean on each other but this did not ease the possible negative pondering rabbit holes. Only by putting faith in something bigger than us did the weight lift.
Now TPP understands that some of you do not believe in God, but that is ok, we all have our own beliefs.
Your homework today is to ponder on is, if you were sitting waiting for a loved one going through a medical procedure what would help ease your mind from the negatives – would it to be to “Let go and let God”? If not what would it be?
Ponder away!
