One thing that helps to get your mind active and become an independent thinker is to question and challenge your current point of view. Like when you see something and think “oh that is just such and such”, maybe what you are actually seeing is very different to your thoughts / opinions. This is where today’s ponderings comes from…
While out for a walk today TPP came across a couple of sparrows flying around in the breeze and twittering away. It appeared that they were not going anywhere as such, but just sort of flying around the place.
Now they looked very carefree freely flying around. Listening to them they sounded so cheerful and happy.
BUT, what if they were actually:
- quite grumpy and were complaining to each other at how sick and tired they were at fighting the breeze
- they were both lost and trying to figure out how to find their nests
- were arguing with each other
- one was teaching the other some “flying stunts”
- or they were just gossiping about another sparrow
The options endless when you challenge what you see!
Your homework today is to look out the window and focus on something you see. Take your first ponderings about what you see and challenge those with what else it could be, just like in the example above with the sparrows. Your original ponderings might be right, but then again they might not be – either way you are seeing it from more than one point of view and have opened your mind to other possibilities.
Power away!
