Bright and Cheerful

The last pondering was about finding something bright and cheerful in your day and allow the goodness of it to give you a wee smile. Well today we are going to explore a little how colour can make a difference to your mood.

As you will have guessed by now, TPP likes the colour pink as it is a happy cheerful colour. Like the image above, even in the rain a pink gumboots and umbrella can brighten things – or at least TPP thinks so!

Colours can have a big impact on moods, emotions and even pass on non-verbal information. This is why are there the following expressions:

  • Green with envy
  • The green eyed monster
  • Feeling blue
  • Tickled pink
  • Seeing red
  • White as a sheet

There are some basic beliefs with certain colours, for example red is seen as energy related, whereas green is about nature. But the same colour can be seen differently by each individual or impact a persons mood differently depending on the shade used – in fact there is a whole field of psychology behind colours and how they impact on moods!

So your homework today is to ponder on what is your favourite colour and why? Do you have a very specific shade of that colour? What does it do to your mood just by pondering about it – make you feel more positive or pull you down?
