The other day TPP needed to do a hurried road trip to a destination a couple of hours away, leaving home late afternoon / early evening and arriving back late that night.
The trip consisted of both wide open country roads and congested rush hour city driving. The contrast between the two was amazing, not only in scenery and atmosphere but also in the driving styles of others on the road – country drivers sitting back and cruising along, while the city drivers were zipping hither, tither and yon just trying to get that one space ahead in their rush to get to their destination.
The sun went down not long after setting out and being in the country at the time, TPP was able to experience the full effect of an amazing sunset with incredible colours, light changes and watching the countryside get ready for “bed”. It was a beautiful still, cloudless evening which made the whole change from day to night even more special.
The last half hour coming home was very peaceful. Deserted roads and the world around mostly fast asleep – a very calming and relaxing way to finish a road trip.
All in all an interesting evening of contrasts, experiences and scenery!
Your homework today is to ponder the last time you did a road trip – where you went, what time (or times) of day were you on the road, was it busy or quiet and what did you experience along the way.
