The last article covered that a group of hippos is generally called a bloat. Well that got TPP looking into other “odd” names for groups of animals and found out that a group of pandas is called an embarrassment. With their cute, goofy behaviour it is not surprising that they are called an embarrassment!
Here are a few other random animal group names that TPP found:
- a coalition of cheetahs
- a raft or a romp of otters
- a tower of giraffes
- a clan or a cackle of hyenas
- a leap of leopards
- a harem of seals
- a business of ferrets
- a smack of jellyfish
Your homework for today is to ponder those group names and how the name came about. I know pandas being an embarrassment is pretty obvious and so is the tower of giraffes, right? But what out the others – how on earth could someone come with a coalition of cheetahs?
