In looking around for information on the last article about windy days making people and animals more skittish, TPP came across the following quote:
“When everything seems to be going against you,
remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it.”
– Henry Ford
Very inspirational quote to get pondering on!
Henry Ford had many failures and challenges during his lifetime. But no matter what was thrown at him he never quit, he had total trust in his abilities to achieve his dream of a self-propelled motor vehicle and far more.
Three of his failures, and they are pretty major ones where most people would have struggled to recover from any one of them, were :
- Money from his first investors was all used up without anything to show for it, resulting in very unhappy investors
- When he finally built a car and raised further money his company, Detroit Auto Company, went bankrupt
- He even tried to launch a political career but never succeeded in this
Despite these he pushed on and, as they say, the rest is history.
Everyone has failures, it is the way we handle them that counts – sometimes we do so successfully, sometimes not so much. Each failure is a lesson that we should take the time to learn from. We may not realise the lesson at the time or even want to think about the failure initially as it is too painful.
Then there are times these failures will take you down a totally different path you may never have thought about. The end result of the change in direction you have been taken is far better than if the failure had not happened in the first place.
Your homework for today is to ponder on Henry Ford’s quote and what does it mean to you when it comes to challenges, failures, as well as successes.
Ponder away!
