Morning Routines

TPP watched a beautiful sunrise today and got to pondering on the different morning routines we all have.

Some of us are natural morning people and others are night owls. Which one you are, will have a big impact on what your routine will be.

If you go looking online you will find many different recommendations for morning routines to start your day right. Things like:

  • Wake up the same time every day. By doing this your body circadian rhythm is expecting the same time making it easier to wake up.
  • Force yourself to smile when you wake up no matter how you are feeling. This will help get you into a positive frame of mind
  • Start with a glass of water when you get up – it helps hydrate the body for the day ahead
  • Do some stretches. It can help to increase your blood flow, get rid of the crinkles in your body from the nights sleep and just makes you feel a little better
  • Have a few minutes of quiet “you” time before getting into the day
  • While having the quiet “you” time give thanks for all the good things in your life. Yip, we all have problems and bad things happening in our lives but giving thanks for the good things will help you to feel more positive and in control of things
  • Many even suggest making your bed every morning!

But none of the recommendations covers TPP’s morning routine staple – a cup of coffee. Is this a good or a bad thing? Who cares because coffee does have some benefits – physical and mental. Plus, everyone is different – not right or wrong, just different.

Your homework today is to ponder on your morning routine – what part of it helps you get going in the right direction for the day ahead, what hinders, what can you change and what, like TPP’s morning coffee, is non-negotiable.

Ponder away!
